JTI European Scholarships for Journalists are part of JTI’s programme, launched in 2000 with the purpose of supporting the development and specialization of the Romanian press, by promoting a series of excellent journalistic standards and practices and by organizing meetings with officials of the European Union. JTI’s European Scholarship for Journalists programme thus reached its 12th edition and its 5th in Europe.

As of the edition of 2011 – 2012, the program invited not only Romanian applicants but also candidates from the Republic of Moldova, media journalists from the written publications arena, but also radio, TV and online media, specialized on social, politic and economic verticals.
The selection of the JTI scholars was made based on strict criteria, including their reputation, professional experience, interviews with the organizers and the three written materials they had presented on an individual basis.
